Over the last few years, under a special Government Decree, Tsaghkadzor is being transformed into a world-class ski resort. From the year 2000 Tsaghkadzor city is experiencing the new upsurge in development. Nearly all the rest houses got renovated, meeting all modern requirements both in terms of design and amenities, as well as the level of services rendered. There are excellent conditions for off-piste skiing and snowboarding. In the times of Soviet Union Tsaghkadzor was the training base for skiing and another kinds of winter sports of USSR. During the Soviet era Tsaghkadzor was developed into a modern city intended to attract large numbers of tourists.
Tsaghkadzor means valley of flowers in Armenian. The oldest resort town Tsaghkadzor is located in one hour highway drive from Yerevan, 1800 meters above sea level, among conifer and deciduous forests.
Tsaghkadzor is a year-round resort. The area is snow covered during 5-6 months a year. The ski resort is surrounded with pristine woods and Alpine meadows which in ancient times used to be the hunting area for the armenian kings of the Arshakides dynasty.
Ski center of Tsaghkadzor is located on the eastward slope of Teghenis Mountains.
Ski resort is fully equipped with snow blowing and snow-compacting machines, ensuring skiing of skiers and snowboarders in any weather conditions. Well equipped and attended snow tracks are crucial for safe skiing. Ski tracks are comfortable for both professional and amateurs, making the resort attractive for anyone. Special attention is paid here to beginners and children, ski tracks equipped with necessary facilities and amenities are available for them. Cafés and bars are available between the rope-way stations 1/2 and 2/3, where one can relax during having an active sport day. There are also operating rescue team, paramedical and medical services.
